The nonprofit organization Latika (formerly the Latika Roy Foundation) has opened a 56,000 sq ft campus in Dehradun designed specifically with universal accessibility at its core.
Unlike traditional buildings, this campus integrates accessibility from the start, featuring a multi-storey ramp system, barrier-free circulation, and inclusive classrooms tailored for children with physical and developmental needs.
The facility is equipped to serve approximately 1,500 children (ages 7 to 14) and their families, providing services including special education, therapy, life skills training, and vocational support.
The project was completed in collaboration with Cushman & Wakefield, which provided CSR seed funding and pro bono project management to ensure high operational and accessibility standards.
The campus was built using sustainable design principles, incorporating local materials, energy-efficient techniques, and local craftsmanship to ensure environmental responsibility.
