The Union government ordered YouTube to block the '4PM News' channel on Thursday, citing "national security" and "public order" as the primary reasons for the restriction.
Sanjay Sharma, the editor of 4PM News, has alleged that the channel is being targeted repeatedly for its sharp criticism of the government and for asking uncomfortable questions.
YouTube informed Sharma of the block via email; however, the notification did not provide a detailed explanation or specific examples of the content that allegedly violated security norms.
Sharma believes the action may be linked to a recent interview with an Iranian professor or his questioning of India's diplomatic stance towards Iran, which he noted is a a friendly nation.
This is not the first time the channel has faced such action; it was previously blocked in April 2025 following videos that were critical of the government's response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
