What Happened?
The attack took place on Monday, September 14. According to the child's family, his aunt was carrying him through the street when a neighbor's pet pitbull came out of a nearby house and attacked. CCTV footage reviewed by multiple outlets shows two dogs emerging from the house, with one lunging at the infant. The child's grandmother, Nirmala, told reporters the dog knocked the baby to the ground, grabbed him in its jaws, and dragged him along the street.
The aunt was also bitten while trying to protect the child. Local residents, alerted by the commotion, rushed in and pulled the baby free.

The infant suffered bite injuries to his face, mouth, stomach and hands, reportedly requiring more than 20 stitches. He is currently being treated at PGIMS Rohtak, with his condition described as serious to critical.
