Aichi-Nagoya, Japan: Indian shooters Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka won the bronze medal in the mixed team skeet event at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, September 24, according to NDTV. The medal takes India's tally at the Games to 15.
How They Got There
The Indian pair qualified for the medal round after finishing fourth in qualification with a score of 138 out of 150. Qatar topped qualification with 145, followed by South Korea on 143 and China on 140.
A Second Medal Each in Two Days
The mixed team bronze is the second medal of the Games for both shooters. On Wednesday, Naruka helped India's men's skeet team of Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill win bronze, with India edging Kazakhstan in a shoot-off after both teams finished level on 346. Naruka was India's top scorer with 119 out of 125. Earlier the same day, Parinaaz, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan won the women's team skeet bronze with a combined 331, India's first-ever Asian Games medal in the event.
For Naruka, the medal carries extra meaning. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, he finished fourth in the mixed skeet event, missing out on the bronze by a single point. He also won individual skeet silver at the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou.
India's Medal Tally
Before this medal, India had won 14 medals at Aichi-Nagoya 2026: one gold, six silver and seven bronze. Shooting has been one of India's strongest disciplines at the Games. The Asian Games 2026 began on September 19 and run until October 4.
