Gunfight in Outer Delhi: Two Shooters Linked to Kapil Sangwan's Notorious Nandu Gang Shot, Arrested

A brief but intense exchange of fire in Outer Delhi early Monday ended with two suspected criminals shot in the legs and taken into custody by the Delhi Police Special Staff. Both men are alleged members of the network run by gangster Kapil Sangwan, better known by his alias Nandu, one of the most active organized crime networks currently being tracked by Delhi Police.

Wanted for Firing at a Property Dealer's Home

According to police, the two men were wanted in connection with an earlier shooting incident at the residence of a property dealer in Bahadurgarh. When the Special Staff moved in to apprehend them in Outer Delhi, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team. Officers returned fire in the ensuing exchange, and both suspects sustained bullet injuries to their legs before being overpowered and arrested.

Direct Links to the Nandu Gang

Police say both men had direct contact with Kapil Sangwan's network, which has been linked to multiple extortion and firing incidents across Delhi-NCR in recent months. The gang has increasingly relied on hired shooters and local associates to carry out targeted attacks, often as part of extortion rackets allegedly run by Sangwan from abroad.

Part of a Wider Crackdown

This is not the first blow Delhi Police has dealt to the Nandu network this year. In May, the Special Cell arrested three alleged sharpshooters connected to the same gang, along with two suspected weapon suppliers, in a separate case tied to a planned extortion firing in South-West Delhi. Those accused, based across Punjab and Haryana, had allegedly been sent to fire at a clinic in the Chhawla area as part of the gang's extortion operations, with investigators saying arms and a motorcycle had been arranged locally through gang associates.

Investigation Continues

Both suspects arrested on Monday are currently receiving treatment for their injuries under police custody. Investigators are expected to question them further to trace the broader network of associates and financiers behind the gang's recent activities in the capital region, as Delhi Police continues its sustained operation against organized crime syndicates operating in and around the city.
