The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing an unmanned High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) airship capable of operating between 45,000 and 60,000 feet.
This stratospheric vantage point allows the airship to look up to 20 kilometers deep into enemy territory, providing crucial real-time intelligence for tactical strikes.
Cruising at up to 18 km above sea level keeps the airship safely beyond the reach of most short-range and medium-range air-defense missiles.
Constructed primarily from fabric with minimal metal, the airship features a low Radar Cross Section (RCS), making it extremely difficult for enemy radar systems to detect.
Filled with fire-resistant hydrogen, the airship serves as a smarter, more affordable, and less vulnerable alternative to expensive, high-orbiting military satellites.
